Speaker 2: 00:09 Hello everybody. I'm Stewart Deming of XPLR.nash. I'm co-hosting the Nashville daily podcast with Mr. Erin Pennington today. How are you?

Speaker 3: 00:17 It's a Monday. I'm hanging in there. It's a Monday morning. Uh, so, uh, hopefully everybody is planning on killing this Monday morning,

Speaker 2: 00:25 killing this Monday morning at 6:00 AM. So what is our traffic looking like for today?

Speaker 3: 00:30 You know, surprisingly even at 6:00 AM it's bad. Still bad ass so bad right now. You've got to leave at like four in the morning to do anything in Nashville now.

Speaker 2: 00:40 Yeah. I remember the day when it used to take me literally 20 minutes to get anywhere and now sometimes it takes me like an hour and a half to get somewhere.

Speaker 3: 00:49 Yeah. You know, coming from a smaller town, that's kind of how my mind operates. Before I moved to Nashville, I was like, all right, I can get anywhere in 15 minutes. And uh, I had to quickly change that mindset that does not work here.

Speaker 2: 01:02 Yeah. I, uh, over the, uh, last Friday I had an opportunity to meet with my friend Ricky Paneda. He just came back from the Ukraine and he's like, one thing I did not miss about Nashville is it's traffic because in the last like 10 months I was gone. It's gotten progressively worse. So traffic is terrible. Tonight you, we have whiskey jam happening over at winners and losers. We cover this event pretty often. Uh, to learn more about whiskey jam, make sure to go over to whiskey jam.com what's happening in downtown Nashville tonight near the JW Marriott.

Speaker 3: 01:36 Okay. So this is an event called movie under the stars. It's an event that, uh, I've been to before. And basically the a at the JW Marriott there, there's an event space that's outside. It's kind of a, a lawn area. They bring in a screen, they bring in food drinks and it's family friendly. And uh, they got somewhere there. They had chick-fil-a, right? Yeah. Oh yeah. So it's good stuff. And they're playing a 51st dates is the movie that they're playing tonight and I'm a huge Adam Sandler fan, so that, that, that will be just a, a good event to go to. You know, if you are thinking that you want to go to an event tonight, a whiskey jam is a good one. If you want to see the live music scene, if that's not your jam, then um, movie under the stars at the new JW Marriott is playing 51st dates and, and the weather should be good. It's uh, it's gonna be hot.

Speaker 2: 02:31 Let's go to B. It's going to be a warm one. Uh, some things coming up later this week that we're excited to bring you guys on Thursday night at starting at 5:00 PM. You have the live on the green, uh, which takes place downtown Nashville. It's a free music concert fee free concert series basically. Yeah. Um,

Speaker 3: 02:49 each night, um, basically has three or four large scale, large like long form concerts. Um, and it's, it's kind of scheduled out

Speaker 2: 03:00 like a normal concert where you'll have your main act at the end, but you've gotta a few, even big names that are happening, you know, prior to that, that main act that night. Um, it's cool because live on the green happens like as soon as you get off of work, boom, you can go straight to live on the green. No time wasted. Yeah. This event is going on Thursday. Um, the 15th and then Thursday the 22nd of this month and Thursday the 29th through September 1st. Um, so it's typically a free event. You can also buy VIP passes and to learn more, go to the live on the green.com. This is a fun free thing to do here in the city of Nashville. They also have food trucks and [inaudible] food truck drinks and everything there. So, um, if you're thinking about dinner, you could just head over to the food trucks, um, for the live on the green event.

Speaker 2: 03:52 Another thing happening Thursday night of this week, you have the Queen concert at Bridgestone arena starting at 8:00 PM. That one's going to be fun. Uh, that one is not free. You have to pay for tickets for that. Not only having to pay for tickets, you have to pay a ton for tickets. I think the nosebleeds are starting at three 50 for queen. Yes, that's expensive. Um, if I, if you're interested in paying $350 for a ticket, nosebleeds, uh, Bridgestone, arena.com backslash events, spec slash, calendar, uh, another event starting Thursday. We have a lot of things coming up this Thursday. It's busy, it's busy season, but you have a Shakespeare in the park. Happy. They starting on Thursday at 5:45 PM. It's recommended that you give a $10 donation to this one. Uh, and they're changing it up a little bit. Usually it's as centennial park, but according to, uh, the Shakespeare in the park website, it's actually happening.

Speaker 2: 04:46 Hold on, let me pull this back up. It's actually happening at one city, uh, boulevard, which is a one city not too far away. And then they had a city boulevard, Nashville, so it's right next to centennial and I like, it's recommended that you give a $10 donation to learn more about that. It's Nashville shakes.org. And the thing I'm excited about happening Friday night, this happens pretty much monthly, I think, right? For a couple months during the summer, um, over at Warner Park, uh, Percy Warner Park. This is the full moon picking party and that's happening Friday nights starting at 7:00 PM to 11. That's $25 a ticket. Have you ever been to the full moon picking party? I have not yet, but this is an event that I've wanted to go to, but it's a good time from what I've heard. The thing about the full moon picking party that I did not know is this is not an amplified music event, so it's so it's really unique.

Speaker 2: 05:44 It is strictly acoustic and they're, they're picking some, like I'm on their website right now, just go to Warner parks out work to learn about this event and uh, they have photos of a standup bass fiddle. So these are guys just truly picking some music, some good bluegrass. And I believe, if I've heard right, the prices, the price is normally $25 I think it might be discounted if you bring your own instrument. That's cool. And just join along. Yeah, that's awesome. If you buy tickets in advance, it's $20. And then a at the door, it's 25. This is, and for youth, seven to 17 years old, it's $10. So good family friendly event that's actually relatively affordable. Yeah, absolutely. Alright, so, um, some interesting news coming from the Nashville Business Journal. Um, and this one is, was interesting to me because I used to work at Vanderbilt and uh, was there during the time of chancellors at boasts with this national business.

Speaker 2: 06:43 What did you do at Vanderbilt? Just ab work, walked all over the campus and did a bunch of audio visual work. Uh, which means I actually got to meet Chancellor Zippo for a lot of the, the speeches that he did on campus. Um, but uh, this news is about chancellor's Zappos. He has announced his retirement from Vanderbilt. Um, so this is coming from the National Business Journal. Um, and apparently this happened on Friday and uh, so he's beginning to retire I believe next week. So I think it's a pretty quick decision. Uh, I don't think he got along. He worked for Vanderbilt. Let's see, I'm looking at the article. I knew it was, it's at least over a decade. I know he worked at Vanderbilt and kind of held them through the recession, uh, starting, I think it says 11 years. Yeah. So he came in right at that time. Uh, and he also, uh, was at Vanderbilt when the medical center and venderbilt split ties financially.

Speaker 2: 07:44 Uh, so I know that's can't be easy by any means. That's a, that's definitely first some tax write offs are there. I know that one, um, some other important news happening in downtown Nashville at the fifth and Broadway location, which is a brand new development right there on fifth and Broadway. Uh, H and m the clothing store drops out of their 10 year lease. Uh, two years ago they signed the 10 year lease and now they are dropping out due to financial concerns with online competitors. Yeah. This one was kind of sad to hear because h and m was going to be such a large part of fifth and broad. Um, this was not going to be a small store by any means. They already have a pretty large store out at operations shy of 30,000 square feet. That's a large just clothing store in general in downtown Nashville.

Speaker 2: 08:33 Cause that doesn't really exist right now. No. Um, and so I know Viton broad was the place for these larger stores to, uh, to be at. And this was interesting as we were reading the article, this is that Nashville Business Journal as well. Um, it says it's been more than two years since h and m signed a decade long lease for just shy of 30,000 square foot, uh, square feet. So they had already like been ready for this for two years and doing this prep for two years and then to pull out now. I mean it's better now than when fifth and brought it opens next year. But man, that's crazy to supposedly a, according to this business journal Article, uh, they've already found two tenants to take over the h and m space. I think a store I'm really excited about in downtown Nashville is going to be this apple store.

Speaker 2: 09:23 I'm really excited about that. Um, did you guys know apple is coming to downtown Nashville? It's [inaudible]. Um, so what is, what, what's, what's happening out in the business world? OK. So, uh, we had such a good time a couple of days ago we did a quiz provided by the National Business Journal, uh, called Bonnaroo band or Nashville boots. That was fun. We got some really good feedback about that. People really enjoyed that. So what's the quiz today that we're taking? Okay, so this quiz I thought was a hilarious and Stuart, you're going to try to answer some of these questions. This is, is it a hockey player or an Ikea product? Well, I'm really nervous about this one. Have you been to Ikea before? I love Ikea. Every time I go to the Ikea I typically get about six bags of meatballs. Um, they have this corn, this hotdog with relish on it.

Speaker 2: 10:17 It's so good. My favorite experience of Ikea, I was in Austria to country and uh, we just went around the Ikea shops for the college I was working for in Italy. And then we just sat there and the food court and just watch people for like two hours. That was my hands down my favorite experience of Ikea. That was the first experience of Ikea as well. So it really set the bar high. Yeah, I did. I've only been through Ikea once and I spent money that was not mine. I spent like $10,000. That was not my money. So it was really nice spending somebody else's money and just sitting there watching food, like people in the food court. Nice. Yeah. I only went to the Memphis Ikea, so I don't know how that ranks against other, Ikea's the Memphis Ikea compared to like the ones I went to in Italy and Austria are small supposedly than Memphis.

Speaker 2: 11:03 Ikea is larger than the Atlanta Ikea. I've been to both of them. I prefer the Atlanta, um, Ikea supposedly. There's another one in New Jersey that's supposed to be like amazing. Yeah. And if you're new to Nashville, this is sad to talk about because Nashville almost got an ikea and just like the h and m store, they backed up because if they want to focus on online sales. Yeah. Which is sad because only everybody talks about their in store experiences there. Oh yeah, I would have you gone to an the Ikea website, Aaron? No, I have not. It's rough. Maybe that's why they need to focus on that rough. Um, all right, so let's do this quiz on the Nashville Business Journal. All right, Stuart, here we go. So are the following Ikea products or the last names for players on the Pittsburgh Penguins

Speaker 3: 11:54 and the national predators? So these are where these names are coming from. All right, so question one app, Jordan. That's definitely an ikea product. Okay. And Ikea product. Let's see.

Speaker 4: 12:07 Hmm.

Speaker 3: 12:09 Oh, we have to agree. You have to go through this to see the results. All right, so we're going to go through all this latte thing that's a hockey player for the Pittsburghs io. I don't know. That's what I, that's what I'm going to say to a, we don't know all the answers yet. Okay. Um, Jaren crock

Speaker 2: 12:29 sounds like an ikea product. It could be both. I'm going to go if Ikea product, what do you think

Speaker 3: 12:36 John Crock? Um, yeah, I'll say Ikea product. Okay. That sounds good. Okay. Castle,

Speaker 2: 12:44 that's definitely a hockey player for the penguins.

Speaker 3: 12:48 Yeah, that sounds like a hockey player. Rizla wrestler. Uh, this sounds like a, like an ikea product for a kitchen item. What do you think? Marisela cause these are, these are so bad, but I can cause, because you just don't know. I'm going to say Ikea product as well. Okay. Krabi. Hmm. That sounds like a hockey player. All right. No, for Nashville. I don't know. Okay. Forzberg that's definitely a hockey player for the Nashville Predator and a little bit of an advantage. Yeah, we know that one. This will be embarrassing if we get some of the predators. That one's wrong. Okay. Uh, Colossae.K a. L a. S. A. Is this an ikea product or is this a hockey player?

Speaker 2: 13:33 Like, my gut is telling me hockey player, but I'm willing to just say it's a bathroom product for Ikea.

Speaker 3: 13:38 Yeah. How bad that you're getting specific with it. I hope they tell us [inaudible] it holds your toilet paper. Yeah. All right. Um, so we're gonna, uh, stop it right there. Um, and then give you the results in a second. While we do that. Stuart, why don't you to tell us, tell us the, uh, Explorers Nashville tip of the day and I will get the results for the quiz. Uh, so it's

Speaker 2: 14:03 supposed to be a hot one today. This is the true August weather coming at you today. Um, so our tip of the day is either to head to whiskey jam to listen to some free live music or go sign up on Eventbrite for the JW Marriott, uh, outdoor movie that they're showing 51st dates or they're going to have some food trucks. It's just a great opportunity to get outside and experience in Nashville event. So that's our tip of the day. Do we have the results from that business journal quiz? We do.

Speaker 3: 14:33 Um, so we didn't do too badly. Um, we have, what's our percentage that we get like 50%, right? No. So, uh, since I kind of skipped through some of the questions, we don't know our exact percentage. Okay. Um, but uh, the first one, here we go, app Jarden that is a product that is, that is an idea that I remember seeing that. I wish they told us on business journal what exactly the Ikea product was. I know that would be even more fun. [inaudible] you guess hockey player? Yeah. You are correct. Wow. Two for two guys. I know for two. All right. Jarring crock. You guessed Ikea product, correct. Answer. Hockey player, hockey player. Ah, bit like a game show host. Right now I'm at 50% Gal, right? Kessel I think we knew this one that Steph was high hockey player. Alright. Rissalah you guessed Ikea product.

Speaker 3: 15:26 Was that the bathroom one? No, that was the Colossae. You, you were correct that Rissalah was an ikea product. I think you said it was a kitchen. Ikea products. It probably, it probably should have. I should be like an egg ikea expert. Yeah. And then we did a cro baby. We guessed hockey player. It's an Ikea Prah. Yeah. K R o B y may be pronouncing it wrong. Cobia Forzberg [inaudible] play. There was a hockey player. He got that one. Tulsa, the bathroom product that holds toilet paper. Yes. And you guessed that. And Ikea, is that what it is? Yeah, that's why I think he was in my go ahead and look up, look up that one is that is an Ikea product and it is k a l a s a Colossae. And then I don't know if they're just like given these names or these are like the official names. It looks like a place in India and okay. That's an Ikea product as well.

Speaker 2: 16:19 Oh it's a garden pot for outside. Uh, I was close. It's a nice little good looking white garden pot outside. Uh, it looks like it's made out of some wood and nice. Also order it off of Amazon UK. Interesting. Alright. Nashville Business Journal. Thank you for that. And Glue for that quiz. You guys make some of our conversations. Really Fun. If you want to [inaudible] of the day, I'll just want to tell it. Tell the a that everybody, if you want to take the quiz for yourself, uh, we will put the link in our show notes just as much fun as we do. And that's why we didn't finish all the questions. We want you guys to do some questions for yourself and not rely off of our obvious expertise. Yes. Cause we're so good at Ikea furniture and hockey players. Um, so our creator of the day, uh, we wanted to bring you guys something unique that hasn't really been talked about on this podcast yet.

Speaker 2: 17:13 And the creator that we're making is a custom wood maker here in the city of Nashville and their name is good wood, Nashville and their account is good wood, Nashville and that's a g o o d w o o d and a s. H. V. I. L. L. E. Yes. So you can find them on Instagram at good wood, Nashville. Uh, I was looking at their website also. Yeah, their website is good wood, nashville.com. A, we can say a lot about their good wood that they have. They build a lot of custom tables. Um, they do custom floors. Mantels are custom doors

Speaker 3: 17:50 and it looks really good. Like if I had to build a custom desk, this would be the first place that I go.

Speaker 2: 17:55 Yeah. They also, uh, they also do like co custom cons for conference tables. So if you're having a conference room, go the good wood, nashville.com congrats on being our creator of the day and thank you for making a fine willing product.

Speaker 3: 18:08 Yes. So do your Instagram a feed a favor. Put some Goodwood on there at Goodwood Nashville. All right. Stuart, did you eat anywhere local recently? We always try to eat somewhere local. And did you, did you go somewhere?

Speaker 2: 18:23 Yes, I had the amazing opportunity to go over to Bellevue one to this brand new barbecue restaurant that is family owned and I'm going to say this is going to be a good competition for Martin's and Ed Lee's barbecue. Wow. That's saying a lot. This is called honey fire barbecue. And let me tell you something, man. They, they are one of the only barbecue restaurants in town that serve burnt ends. Amazing. Their macaroni and cheese is cheesy and delicious and it melts in your mouth. They have this cornbread pudding. That's so good.

Speaker 3: 18:57 Then you say it's a, yeah. You have a dessert that

Speaker 2: 19:00 yes. My favorite thing, their meat is delicious. I had their brisket and they're burnt ends, but their dessert, they have this peanut butter banana pudding made with another butter cookies. Wow. That's all that Stacy. Oh, my teeth are on Postmates right now. Yeah, honey fire. I don't know if they would have no liver this far cause you're good. 30 minutes away from them now. But honey, fire BBQ, Bellevue one brand new barbecue restaurant. And I'm going to say it's in my top already three barbecue restaurants in town. Wow. So honey flyer, um, we're excited about you being here in Nashville.

Speaker 3: 19:38 All right. Um, and I also ate somewhere local yesterday for the first time. Uh, it's a place in German town called Waldos chicken and beer. Uh, and this is, I believe there was a Mexican restaurant there before and uh, I had eaten there once. I can't even remember what was where and what it was place. Uh, it's right next to no baked, um, cosmic creamery. Yeah. So that right next to like red, red and fourth. Okay. Yeah. Um, cause I think red bike is on fifth. Yes. And so this is off of the fourth. It's a little Harley right there and three one, two kind of. Yeah, I know exactly where you're talking about. Yeah. And it was good. The uh, the chicken was was good. The chicken was cooked really well. Is it fried or grilled? It was fried. The chicken that I got and uh, the sandwich was okay. I got a BLT but uh, I want to go back and get just chicken strips and nothing else because the chicken itself was really good. They did a good job. Hmm.

Speaker 2: 20:32 All right. This episode of the Nashville daily is brought to you by screened threads. Screen threads is a Nashville curated shop located in historic marathon village. Use Code Nashville daily to get 10% off your next online order. Their website is screened threads.com. Uh, that's s c r e e n e d t h r e a d s.com. And mentioned this ad in person in store, and you get 10% off your order as well. Yeah, and screen threads. Uh, like we said, it's in marathon village. If you don't know where that is, that's pretty close to downtown, just, uh, near the, uh, new North Gulch area, the Capitol View area. And uh, if you want Nashville themed merchandise, clothing, gifts, all that kind of stuff, uh, if you want to give somebody a natural gift, if you want just a little natural flavor for yourself, check out serene threads.com or go visit them at marathon village.

Speaker 2: 21:27 All right, let's go back to fifth and Broadway and talk about that for a little while. Uh, what exactly is fifth and Broadway going to be? Aaron? So we wanted to go back and talk about fifth and broad after this kind of h and m announcement because it's just so interesting because it's been in construction for so long and it's moved relatively quickly, but it just feels like for Broadway, it's been there for so long and we've been waiting for something like this for a long time in our city. But um, fifth and broad is going to be a mixed, it's a mixed use development with class, a office space with retail, with restaurants, with just about everything you could imagine. Fifth and broad actually has, and it's on the corner of fifth and Broadway, Fifth Avenue North and Broadway. Uh, you can see the renderings at pit them.

Speaker 2: 22:22 Um, b.com. Um, they even have a residential areas as well, I believe. Yeah, they're going to have, I believe it's close to 400. Let me check. But, uh, they're literally across the street from Bridgestone arena, so you could, if you're live in fifth and Bharad just get season tickets to the predators and just walk across the street to watch the Nashville predators play some hockey. You're across the street from the Ryman Auditorium. You're literally right next to honky-tonk central or honky-tonk row. Like imagine how much, like you've got all the major restaurants in Nashville right next to you as well. And our house, I was close to 400 units, so they're gonna have 386 units in reaching 34 stories, which they just tapped out, uh, topped out there high, I believe at 415 feet this week. It blocks the Batman building blocks. One bad. Yeah. If you're looking southbound now east westbound into the city of Nashville, you can't see the Batman building any longer.

Speaker 2: 23:16 Southbound. All that also blocks it somewhat. But, um, it has changed in Nashville skyline. It's 34 stories tall. It's also gonna have incredible class I office space. It looks like it's a good, nice, like indoor outdoor kind of mix I think. I think, I think fifth and Broadway is a thing that Nashville really needed to allow us to modernize our city. Uh, it's also going to have a museum there and that museum is called the National Museum of African American music. Uh, that's going to be at fifth and Broadway and that's gonna celebrate, um, African American music that has been made here in America. Um, they're going to have a Jimmy head and Hendrix exhibit. This museum's going to be 56,000 square feet. Know that's uh, it's going to be huge. It's going to be a big museum. It's going to be a cultural hub in downtown. As we mentioned earlier.

Speaker 2: 24:07 It's also going to have an apple store, which is incredible. I'm excited about that, especially when my iPhone breaks in downtown Nashville and I need to go get him. Um, it'll service a lot of those people on Broadway late at night who dropped their phone. Oh yeah. And I think a thing I'm really excited is they're going to have like this outdoor beer garden on top and then they're having having this like food court, which this food court has some amazing concepts and restaurants going in there. You have slimming huskies, you have Hattie B's hot chicken. Um, and the list just keeps going. Yeah, I believe the prince's is going to be there. The pharmacy donut and dog, uh, Von l Rod. Um, Gosh, uh, it's just, and I think new ones are being added to the list, um, almost monthly cause you know, they're not going to be open until 2020.

Speaker 2: 25:00 That's why the testimony on the Nashville Business Journal, um, they have 230,000 square feet of retail space. That's a, it's a big development downtown. Um, that apple store is going to be a huge hub. The museum's going to be a huge hub residential also. Um, what's that financial company out of the New York alliance and Bernstein? Yes. They announced last month that they were coming into Nashville. They announced like announced on a little while, a little over a month ago, but a part of fifth and Broadway is going to be their headquarters. So fifth and Broadway, you can go follow them on their Instagram. I believe it's literally fifth and broad. Yep. Fifth, fifth and B is their Instagram accounts. Uh, currently right now they have around 2,500 followers. And if you go to their Instagram account, they have their highlights, which, let's see what their highlights are on their Instagram account. And you can see their renderings at their website.

Speaker 2: 25:57 Fifth and [inaudible]. Oh yes. Shake a shot. Kind of forgot about shake. Check's gonna look good though. They [inaudible] in their alliance and Bernstein slimming Husky Hattie B's. So if you're looking for some hot chicken in downtown Nashville, heady B's will be downtown. I can get some pizza if I'm slimming huskies. Um, let's see if they have anything about stores on their highlights. Yeah, they've been a little bit quieter on the retail side. Um, but there's also gonna be like, we've mentioned class a office space, residential. Um, gosh, their renderings are gorgeous. Oh, the donut. And the dog will be there, which is a Nashville original that serves hotdogs and donuts. You have princess hot chicken. As Erin mentioned earlier, you have van l Ron's the, um, German town restaurant that's going to be there. The pharmacy, Aaron mentioned that. Um, oh, there's an ice cream place. Ooh, ed Lee's barbecue.

Speaker 2: 26:56 Uh Oh, that'll be nice. Jane's a Creamery, I believe they're based out of Columbia, Tennessee. Oh Man. And the green pheasant. There's going to be some good stuff here at fifth and Broadway. What are you excited about, Aaron? About Fifth and Broadway? So I think it was just time for Nashville to get a place like this. Right. Um, we were just in a New York City, right. Uh, not too long ago. And you know, this kind of reminds me of the Hudson yards in New York City, you know, minus the a, I think the architecture is a little bit smaller here just by a little bit. Um, but this kind of mixed use area with this class, a office space with retail, with restaurants and just, and I think they've designed this with a, a nice kind of outdoor environment to walk around as well. Um, with some rooftop atmosphere.

Speaker 2: 27:44 You can't build something in Nashville without a nice rooftop app atmosphere. Um, and I think this is just something that Nashville needed that we hadn't exactly gotten yet and I know fit the broad is going to be the first place for that. Uh, we'll also have some more things like this coming up in a few years, but you know, fifth and broad is Kinda the first one. Oh yeah, they're going to be the first one done with construction. Then you have the Nashville yards, which we'll, we'll talk about the Nashville yards. That's super exciting development happening here in the city. I think the thing I'm most excited about with fifth and Broadway is they're having shopping. If you have ever been to downtown Nashville, there's no shopping. You can't like unless you're shopping for candy. Yeah. Candy or [inaudible] yeah. Or very cheap clothing options. But those stores are shutting down.

Speaker 2: 28:31 And like yesterday, um, not yesterday, over the week I met with a real estate agent. Starbucks wanted to move into Broadway and their restaurants like the spaces downtown, one at $90 per square foot. That's expensive. That's a, that there's a reason they're probably onto Mummery and, and not, and instead of [inaudible]. And so, uh, shopping in downtown Nashville needs to be a thing. We're not very friendly city with shopping. We're also not very family friendly city. So I think fifth and Broadway is going to have some of those options that make it a little bit more family friendly. Uh, that food court yard and just, I'm excited about that and I'm just excited to see the buildings finally get done. Cause I'm sick of seeing the concrete. I just want to see the glass, cause the concrete make my, it makes my photos look bad. So I'm selfishly saying yes, they fifth and Broadway finish that project so we can get some good photos.

Speaker 2: 29:24 Yeah. Yeah. Um, even in the Gulch, like it's hard to find good shopping cause it's still a lot of restaurants. Um, and there's some like in terms yeah, in the Gulf there's some like local boutiques, but at the end of the day you do, you go down to downtown Manhattan email, all of it's downtown. But um, you go into Manhattan, there's 40 or 50 different shopping districts like in Manhattan and it's insane. And so, and even in Atlanta, like there's shopping districts downtown Nashville does not have a shopping district. And I think I've said this before on the podcast when we were talking about downtown Nashville, you have basically before fifth and broad, you have your business district, you have your government district pretty much you have your bars, um, and then some of your higher class restaurants, right. Which now in the restaurant world, it's so competitive here in the city of Nashville, there's a lot of restaurants I start and close within a year or two because they just, there's so much competition here right now.

Speaker 2: 30:26 And then back towards Sobo you have your residential. Yep. And then in Soco you have your own hashtag Shoko for life. So go, that's one thing. Now we're making this a thing. You have more of your, uh, hotels and everything. So, um, this'll be kind of the first time I think that a successful projects come in where everything's together and you don't have to spread it out so much. Just the opportunity to go, literally walk into the apple store, get Hattie B's hot chicken, and then go learn about African American music. That excites me. And maybe you live right there too. And also work there, work there for a aligns and Bernstein. Literally do your entire life at fifth and Broadway. I'm not sure. I haven't heard anything about coffee. I don't know what they're doing for a coffee. Um, I don't think Starbucks is going in there.

Speaker 2: 31:15 I don't know if they're doing a local coffee vendor. So, and Broadway, if you listen to this podcast, please message us back so that we can provide this information about what you're doing for coffee. Well, I end downtown. So there we didn't report on this business news. This was in the Nashville Business Journal. Um, it looked like a, who was it? Barista parlors is trying to raise some capital. Not really. Are they trying to expand like nationwide? That would, that would probably be my guest is expansion in Tennessee. So maybe they will go and fit them broad as well. That would be cool. They're great. They're expensive, but they're great. Yeah, I don't, I'll just be honest, I don't think Barista parlor would fit the demographic audience demographic. They don't move fast enough. They don't, they don't make it fast enough. Um, and it's the same thing with like Hattie B's like Hattie B's and prince's then need to step up their speed game.

Speaker 2: 32:08 Cause like this food court, you need to be flipping people fast, especially because the demographic is going to be a tourist. Visiting the city of Nashville time is valuable. So Dunkin donuts, if you're listening, uh, if you want to be in downtown Nashville, which you don't have a location, I'm just saying you have that one in music city center. But that one's terrible. I'll be very honest. I've waited 15 minutes for a cup of coffee. They wanted the a at the bus. The bus station. Oh yeah. There's the one at the bus station. Yeah. And then music city center. But if you can get on Broadway and make your coffee fast, I think you would make a killing Dunkin donuts. So we're going to tag you in this. Uh, anything else to add about fifth and Broadway? I'm just excited. Um, I know the, uh, the date is 2020 and that's not, uh, it's not too far away and that's, that's less than four months.

Speaker 2: 32:55 I wonder if the, it probably doesn't give a very defined portion of the 2020 that they're going to be. Okay. I think I heard mid, like mid till probably. It would make sense to rise to summer in the tourist season. Yeah. Either that or like early fall, I'm not really sure. Right. I assume some of them will be open, some of it will be open before the rest of it, which will make sense. Yeah. All I know is they're going to have to get some new renderings now because h and m is all over these h and m's all over those renderings. So, uh, yeah. Um, this is the Nashville daily podcast.
